Allie wanted the look of an eyeshadow liner with the longevity that eyeshadow liners do not have. The brief was a pencil that could blend out into a soft, smudged definition along the lash line, but that would dry down and hold all day once placed.
Most eyeliners on the market either commit fully to a hard line or wear off through the day. Allie wanted both edges of that trade-off solved at once. A creamy formula with enough play time to blend, then a true longwear set that holds against eyeshadow on top, foundation underneath, and a full day of blinking and eye movement.
The formula has working time after application. The customer has a few seconds to blend and soften the edge before the formula sets. Once set, it does not move. Allie has been direct: she designed the formula so a smudged edge stays smudged and a precise line stays precise.
The four shades
Each shade has a specific job.
Onyx is the true black. The classic everyday black eyeliner for customers who want crisp definition or a more dramatic wing.
Umber is the warm-toned brown. Designed for warm complexions and for looks where the eye color leans into warm-toned makeup. Umber reads softer than Onyx but still gives noticeable definition. Allie has shown Umber as the liner in lid-focused looks where the eye is the focal point of the look.
Drift is the cool-toned brown. Allie has called this one her personal go-to. The shade sits somewhere between a taupe and a gray, with more brown than gray but a distinct cool undertone. She has said there is nothing quite like it on the market, and she designed it specifically because most eyeliners on the market lean warm and she wanted a cooler option for her own use. Dune is the brightener. Designed for the waterline, not the lash line. A toned-down pink brightening shade that reads more wearable than the typical waterline brightener on the market. Allie has said most waterline brighteners are too stark or too white. Dune is deeper and softer, which means it brightens without looking obvious. The shade builds up if the customer wants more brightness, or stays subtle if she does not.
The brush built for the formula
Allie designed a brush to ship alongside the liners. She has said the brush is what makes the smudged-shadow effect work, and the development took several rounds before the shape was right.
The brush is soft, rounded, and angled. The technique Allie uses with it is different from the way most eyeliner pencils are applied. She paints the brush with the liner first by pulling it across the tip, then works the brush into the lash line. She has said this works better for her than applying the pencil directly to the eye, because it gives her control over how much product is being placed and lets her build the line in layers.
The angle of the brush handles both sides of the job. The tallest side sits against the edge of the eye and lays the initial line. The long side blends and smudges the line outward. Flipping the brush between the two motions is part of the technique.

The technique for everyday wear

For a wing, she draws the initial wing shape using light pressure, then flips the brush to drag what is left on the bristles outward to extend the wing. The formula gives her enough working time to soften the wing into a less sharp edge if she wants to.
For the lower lash line, she uses what is left on the brush after the upper lash application. She does not go directly to the lower lash line with the pencil itself. The remainder on the brush gives just enough product to define the lower lashes without weighting them.
For Dune in the waterline, she warms a small amount of the pencil on the back of her hand first, then draws it along the waterline. Layering two or three times builds the brightness up to a more visible level without depositing too much at once.
Why a longwear pencil for everyday
